NEXTApplication Guidelines
The State of Kindness academic scholarship program provides financial assistance to promising young students who want to further their education, achieve their goals and inspire others. Students with an academic willingness who have faced financial adversity become ambassadors to a connected network of diverse industry professionals, community leaders, mentors and program alumni.
Value
Up to $15,000 CAD per year towards eligible education expenses to any post-secondary institution tenable for up to four years of funding*.
Field of Study Requirements
There are no restrictions on the program of study or discipline applicants are enrolled in.
Eligible applicants must:
- Be a Canadian citizen
- Be a resident of Ontario
- Be in their final year of high school, entering full-time post-secondary studies in either a bachelor’s degree or diploma or certificate program
- Have a cumulative average of 2.7 for Grade 11 and available Grade 12 marks
- Students must commence their studies in the same year as the application submission
- Have faced financial adversity

NEXTEligibility Criteria
Complete application submission must include:
1. Two Letters of Reference
Completed by an employer, teacher or valued community leader.
- Details the nature of the relationship and how long they have known the applicant
- Describes their experience with the applicant
- Discuss the applicant’s strengths and their potential for success in their program of study
2. Up-to-date Resume
3. Current Grade 11 and 12 Highschool transcipts
4. An “About Me” Essay
- 750 word maximum written essay telling us about yourself and the reasons why you feel you would be a good candidate for the State of Kindness Scholarship Fund program
- Identify your interested area of study and your career objectives/path.
- Any other information you feel is relevant and important to describing who you are as an individual.
